Your personal Webspace
PERSONAL WEBSPACE | Make your page | Publicize | Resources | Advanced | Storage and transfer Please note that if you have not used your Sympatico Webspace before, you will first have to request that it be created. For customers in Nova Scotia: your personal Webspace is activated automatically when your account is created, and there is no need to request it. If you do not use your personal webspace for an extended period of time, you may have to call Member Services and have it re-activated. What can I do with my personal Webspace? A personal Web page is your opportunity to make an impression on the world! As a Sympatico member you get free Web page space, so that you can make your views known, share your interests, artwork, or whatever else you might want to put there. For example, you could showcase your photos, artwork or writing; create a web site for fans of your favourite musician, athlete, author, etc; or tell the world about your ideas. It's your Webspace! Where will my personal Webspace be? The Sympatico service provides space (called a directory) on a special computer (called a server) for members' personal Web pages. Your Webspace remains empty until you put a Web page there. What will my personal Webspace address (URL) be? Your Webspace address is determined by your Sympatico service provider and is usually related to the name in your e-mail address (some also use a tilde "~" in the address). e.g., if your e-mail address were "pat@xx.sympatico.ca", then your Webspace address would be as follows (check with your local Sympatico service provider for exact details):
Request your personal Webspace! What CGI scripts can I use with my personal Webspace? You can use page hit counters and simple forms with your Personal Webspace. You can also use functions that do not require CGI scripts: client-side image maps and e-mail links. Find out about how to use these features on our Webspace Advanced Functions page.
